Weekend Getaway

Chris, along with three of his brothers and his father, own a quarter-share of a condo on Loon Mountain in Lincoln, New Hampshire.  Basically it’s a hotel suite that’s split with three other families and each family gets to use the condo for one week a month.  It happened to work out that it was their week with the condo last week and even better, Chris & I didn’t have the boys this past weekend (they were with their dad), so needless to say we took the chance to get away for the weekend.  Alone.  Without kids.

The hotel/condo is right at the base of Loon Mountain, so if you’re a skiier, you can literally ski down the mountain right to the door of the place.  Our rooms don’t face Loon, but there’s still a pretty nice view:

One of the cool things about going there is that they have a full gym, pool, hot tub and spa.  Both Chris and I ended up getting pedicures while we were there.  Yes, Chris got one, too, and I’m pretty sure he’s hooked.

Here’s the finished product.  I actually included this picture because I want you to take a look at the tattoo on my left foot.  It’s two connected hearts.  Got it memorized?  Good.  Keep reading to see why.

Ever since I got that tattoo two years ago, I’ve been wanting to add to it and this past weekend, that’s exactly what I did.

What do you think?

And if all that wasn’t enough, I’ve saved the highlight of my weekend for last.   The first morning we were up there (Saturday), I had been craving french toast, so we headed up to the street to this little breakfast place that we passed on the way to the condo.  It was called Flapjack’s Pancake House, and although they had Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Pancakes on the menu, I was craving french toast and that’s exactly what I got.

I kid you not, it was the best french toast I’ve ever had in my entire life.  It was so good, in fact, that we ended up going back there for breakfast on Sunday and Monday because I couldn’t get enough of it.  They served it with this maple butter and combined with the local syrup they had there – it was just heavenly.  I am already trying to figure out how soon we can get back up there so I can have my french toast again!

Chris took care of everything over the weekend (planning, etc), so I really didn’t have to think or worry about anything. I was able to recharge my batteries and get mentally prepared for Thanksgiving, which I am hosting, next week.   Did I mention that he’s the best husband in the entire world?

Anyhow, here’s a gratuitous picture of the two of us.

We had a few crazy adventures over the weekend, one of which was a daring outdoor adventure involving all sorts of danger and peril, so be sure to stop by tomorrow and read all about it.
