Chris and I found out on Saturday that we were going to get an entire week of freedom from the kids over the summer. So while the gruesome twosome are away spending a super fun week at the beach, Chris and I decided that it would be the perfect opportunity to take a vacation – ALONE. Ya know……..without kids. Like a real, grown-up type vacation.
Once we had decided that we wanted to go away, we both started throwing out all sorts of ideas. I knew immediately that I wanted to eliminate all of the New England states. We’re pretty well traveled when it comes to our neck of the woods, so we want to go somewhere we’ve never been before.
But with so many ideas on the table, we couldn’t narrow it down. Chris had suggested throwing a dart at a map of the United States and where ever the dart landed would become our destination. I was completely on board with that – I do love a good adventure, but there was a little bit of a problem. We don’t own a map of the USA. Or any darts for that matter.
So, my brilliant husband remembered that the boys had a puzzle of the USA and figured that we could put all of the states into a hat and pick one. I thought that sounded just as good, but after talking it out, we decided that we’d each pick a state and then try to narrow it down from there.
So, I busted out the puzzle:
The boarder pieces of the puzzle had to be separated out before we could have at it, though.
Because he’s older, and age before beauty is my motto, Chris picked first.
And here are the two states that we ended up with.

So, here is where you guys come in. Have any of you ever been to (or happen to live in) either of these states? We’re looking for suggestions and/or feedback to help us make our final decision on which state to visit. Chris has been to Colorado for work training before, but never to sight see or anything like that and neither of us have ever been to Alabama. If we do choose Alabama, we’re leaning towards the gulf coast area of the state – especially since it will be summertime.
